Other than academic research, I have great interest in the commercial applications of science and technology and the innovations that go with it. I enjoy thinking about scientific results from a market point of view. I also enjoy reading about innovative businesses and their business models.
In 2010, I won the Westfocus Bright Ideas Business Plan competition for a conceptual technology for mass producing enzymes that have the potential to significantly reduce manufacturing costs and water treatment costs in Paper mills.
Later in 2010, along with Dr. Arsalan Daudi, I won a Royal Holloway Enterprise MiniGrant, for developing a nano-technology based biosensor platform that is able to detect and localize specific small molecules within a cell. Currently, it is work in progress and we hope that someday this will be a robust commercial product. |
