Thomas Holloway: a timeline
- 22 September 1800: born eldest son of Mary Chellew and Thomas
Holloway at the Robin Hood and Little John Inn in Devonport.
- Siblings Henry, Caroline, Mary Jane and Matilda.
- Family moves to Turk's Head Inn, Chapel Street, Penzance.
- Family moves to gorcery shop in the market place, Penzance.
- Schooled in Cambourne and Penzance.
- 1816: apprenticed to a chemist.
- 1828: travelled to Dunkirk.
- Moved to Robaix.
- 1831: returned to England.
- 1835: starts own business as a foreign commercial agent, offices
at 8 Wood Street, Cheapside.
- 1836? Approached by Felix Albinolo, who wished to market
an ointment.
- Introduces Albinolo to Mr Travers, surgeon at St Thomas's.
- Ointment trialed, but no testimonial forthcoming because it was
similar to a preparation already in use.
- Letter from Joseph Henry Green (surgeon) quoted out of context as
a testimonial: Green threatens to apply to Court of Chancery to forbid
use of his name.
- 1837/8: offices moved to 13 Broad Street Buildings.
